  • Meeting time: 9.30

We recommend spending the night in Lysebotn prior to the tour so you can be fresh and on time for the hike. If you prefer making this a day trip there is a bus departing from Stavanger at 7.30 in the morning.

SBK BASE Jumping Club

Our trip begins with a visit to the SBK BASE Jumping Club, where you’ll get a fascinating introduction to the sport, learn about the club’s history, and hear stories about the people who made BASE jumping at Kjerag world-famous.

As we ascend the winding road to the starting point of our hike, you'll experience one of the most scenic routes in Norway. Known for its snake-like twists and turns, this 600-meter climb offers breathtaking views and sets the stage for the unforgettable journey ahead.

Eagle's Nest

At the start of the hiking trail, you’ll find a unique restaurant called Eagle’s Nest, named after the majestic eagle that once soared through this area. Built around a massive granite stone that you can see and touch from inside, the restaurant is a marvel of design.

Perched on the edge of the mountain, Eagle’s Nest features a terrace with a spectacular 180-degree view of Lysebotn. Before we begin our hike, the restaurant will provide us with food packs and refreshing cold drinks to enjoy later at Kjerag Bolten.

Water Falls and Streams

The first part of the hike takes us on an uphill path, giving you plenty of time to take in the stunning scenery and perhaps spot some curious sheep along the way. As we ascend the first hill, the views become even more rewarding, leading us to the first valley where we’ll pause to appreciate the natural beauty.

This open area is alive with waterfalls and crystal-clear streams of drinkable water, flowing gracefully to the edge of the mountain before tumbling into the fjord below as waterfalls.
During the hike, we’ll share captivating stories about the Vikings who once lived in Rogaland, their connection to the land, and how the ice ages shaped the Lysefjord and the surrounding mountains. One of our BASE jumpers will also recount the story of their first jump at Kjerag, offering a glimpse into the history of human flight—one of the youngest and most daring sports in the world.

Kjerag Bolten

The next stage of our hike brings a bit of excitement, with a short rock-climbing section. Don’t worry—chains are in place to help, and no technical climbing experience is needed. All you need is a sense of adventure to take on this part of the journey.

Coming out of the second valley, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the fjord and surrounding mountains. Standing on top of the towering 1,000-meter cliffs is a moment of pure awe.

Thereafter, we’ll continue our journey to Kjeragbolten, where we’ll pause to relax, enjoy our meals, and take in the stunning beauty of Kjerag.

For those feeling brave, stepping onto the boulder suspended between the cliffs offers the ultimate photo opportunity!

Watch a Human Fly

Just 10 minutes away from Kjeragbolten lies the BASE jumper’s exit point. Here, you’ll have the rare opportunity to witness a BASE jumper as they make their final preparations for an awe-inspiring leap.

Gain an insider’s view of the specialized gear that allows them to fly like a bird and navigate the forces of gravity with precision.

For the ultimate thrill, you can lay at the edge of a 1,000-meter cliff and watch as they take the leap, gliding gracefully through the air before safely landing on a small grassy patch, one-third of the way out into the fjord.

After that, we will begin our journey back down from the mountain, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of the day.
